Linnie Hostetler was born and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She began her music study at an early age, starting with piano lessons. Later, she began taking horn lessons, which inspired her to continue studying music in higher education. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in music education with a K-12 certification at Messiah College in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Then the country girl decided to hit the big city and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to pursue a Master’s Degree in Horn Performance at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She finished this degree in 2015 and is currently working on a Doctorate of Musical Arts with a focus in Horn Performance from the same school.

Besides playing in most of UNLV’s ensembles, she can also be seen freelancing around Las Vegas, subbing in shows like Steve Wynn’s Showstoppers or playing with the Las Vegas Philharmonic. She has also played with the Pop Strings Orchestra, Lon Bronson’s All-Star Band and Bella Strings, to name a few. She teaches undergraduate courses at UNLV and is the horn Para-pro at the Las Vegas Academy. In addition to this, she has her own studio of private students of all ages.
